Meet the Shady Oak Staff!

Joyce Trigger

Joyce Trigger founded Shady Oak Christian School in 1987.  Her life has been blessed immeasurably by the hundreds of families who have trusted the school in the nurturing, education, and guidance of their children.  Joyce graduated from the University of Illinois with a BS in Elementary Education and from the University of Houston with a MS in Curriculum and Instruction. Her passion is Parent Education, understanding fully that parents are the REAL teachers of young children.  She and her husband, Tom, have lived in the Pecan Grove Community for almost 30 years!  They enjoy being grandparents to Ella, Kate, and Sammy.  What a gift to have Ella, age 5, come to Shady Oak in the Bridge class!

Ashley Schmidt

Assistant Director

I am excited to begin my third year at Shady Oak as the Assistant Director.  My favorite part of being at Shady Oak is getting to know each child and their family and seeing children begin to develop into who they were divinely created to be!  I am also a Yoga Instructor and enjoy spending time with my husband, Casey; sons, Silas and Collier and our chickens, Jill & Genevieve.  In my free time, my family spends weekends around the fire pit in our backyard, countless hours playing Uno at the dinner table, and as much time as we can at our family's land in the country.
