September News

first day 16Welcome to another fun and exciting new school year! We are happy to see new and familiar faces! Much of September will be spent going over our daily routines and procedures of our classroom. We will also be spending time getting to know our new friends while exploring more about our emotions, manners, our families and the community in which we live. Your children will enjoy centers daily including language, reading, writing, math, science, art, and fine motor building. Your child will also be participating in “Music Together” with Mrs. Trigger every Tuesday and Espanol with Mrs. Font every Wednesday. There will also be more opportunities for exploring imaginative and role playing learning in the blocks and dramatic play centers. During these learning activities, we will be assessing your child and making individualized plans for the weeks to come.

Kindergarten and Bridge will have quiet time each day after lunch. We will dim our lights and enjoy soothing music or quiet reading. Please bring a large, labeled towel to lie on. Please, no mats, pillows or stuffed animals.

Kindergarten and Bridge will have a “Friday Folder”. These folders will be used to share teacher/parent communications and important papers to be looked over. After reviewing its contents, please sign and return the empty folder every Monday.

Beginning next week, each child will be assigned a specific day for his/her show and tell. More information on that will go home in the Friday folder.

We are looking forward to a fun and fabulous school year!!

Smiles and hugs,

Mrs. Strode and Mrs. Font

Math is hard for some children to grasp. Shady Oak Christian School Kindergarten students are utilizing a visual and physical activity to help them learn addition and subtraction.

Less and more math activity. Standing on 4. Show me 3 more than four. Now he’s standing on 7.
