Week of Giving
December 10 - December 14
Help us bring the Shady Oak Christmas love and magic our community–inside and out.
What would a Shady Oak Christmas event be without sausage balls and breakfast breads? Watch your email next week for a link where you can sign up to bring goodies for breakfast daily.
This year, we are collecting items to be distributed to three local charitable organizations: Lunches of Love, CASA, and the You Can Academy at Friends of North Richmond. Items to be collected are individually wrapped snack/lunch box items (non-refrigerated) and unwrapped gifts/toys for kids ages 3-12. These items will be collected over the entire week, so you may drop off your items at any time during school hours on Dec 10 – 14.
Ideas for Snacks (items need to be individually packaged and shelf-stable/non-refrigerated)
•Packaged chips, pretzels, etc.
*All snack items will be distributed after the Week of Giving. You may bring these items in at any time during the week.
Ideas for Gifts (unwrapped):
•Finger nail polish
•Head phones – fuzzy, colorful, or over-the-head style for older kids
•Journals and cute stationary
•Friendship bracelet sets
•Over the ear headphones
•Cute Socks (for boys and girls, ages 3 – 12)
•Card games – Uno, Sleeping Queens, Spot-it, etc
•Board games (trouble, monopoly, twister, checkers, connect four, sorry, etc)
*The You Can Academy has requested that item we collect be distributed to them by Wednesday; they will use our items to help fill the Gift Boxes that they give to their children at their annual Christmas Party–which happens to be on Dec 14! Therefore, gifts/toys that are appropriate for kids in grades 1st-5th that are collected on Mon-Tues will go to You Can Academy, which serves approximately 40 children in those grades. All the remaining gifts/toys collected on Wed – Fri will go to CASA, which serves children of all ages.
