Spring has sprung!
The birds are chirping, bees are buzzing around the jasmine and worms are beginning to make their presence known on our playground!
We are beginning our new project on insects!
Last week we went on a bug finding exploration around our school! We found ant hills very interesting to watch! We are so excited to have an “expert” on insects (Entomologist) visit our class to teach us all about the wonderful world of insects!
Tuesday April 4, we will have an author visit us at Primary and read her book. Remember to return your order form if you would like to purchase an autographed book for your child.
Picture day is Thursday, April 6th. Have you turned in your order form?
Mark your calendars for our Annual Shady Oak Spring Thing! Enjoy a morning of fun, games and prizes on Saturday April 8. We hope to see you there!
Our Easter egg hunt and special snack is scheduled for Thursday, April 13. Kindergarten will be making our Easter baskets here at school. Look for our signup sheet for special snack items needed.
Our April field trip is scheduled for Thursday, April 20. We will need at least 5 drivers to make this trip possible. We hope you can join us for strawberry picking and a picnic lunch at Froberg’s Farm in Alvin! More info will go home next week.
NAEYC “Week of the Young Child” is the week of April 24th – 28th. Our April home project will be to bring in a shoe box covered in a light colored paper. We will decorate these boxes in class. Please bring in these boxes no later than Fiday April 7th. We will send these back home to be used as a “Treasure Box Lunch” on Tuesday April 25th to celebrate this special week.
We have been hard at work practicing and preparing for our annual spring program coming up on the evening of Thursday, April 27th. Ask your child about the songs he/she has been singing!
Kindergarten will be taking the Stanford Achievement Test Monday, May 1st – Friday May 5th. Please be sure your child is well rested, eats a healthy breakfast and arrives to school on time. Encourage him/her to try his best without any pressure or stress. We have no doubt that they will rise to the occasion!
April is sure to be another month full of learning and excitement! As always, thank you for sharing your children with us!
Smiles and Hugs,
Mrs. Strode and Mrs. Font
